The Diverse Cumbria Awards

Terms and Conditions

The Diverse Cumbria Awards (DCA) celebrate those who are making Cumbria a fairer, more inclusive place for all. These Terms and Conditions outline the nomination, judging, sponsorship, and publicity processes to ensure transparency and fairness.

Definitions:

  • "We" refers to Your First Events Ltd.
  • "Awards" means The Diverse Cumbria Awards.
  • "Nominee" refers to the individual, group, organisation, business, or event nominated.

Nominations

  • Nominations are open to the public via the Diverse Cumbria Awards website (www.diversecumbriaawards.co.uk).
  • Nominations are anonymous and free.
  • Individuals can nominate in as many categories as they wish.
  • Multiple nominations for the same nominee will not affect the final results, as winners are chosen based on merit, not the number of nominations received.

Each nomination must include:

  • Name of the nominee
  • Contact details for the nominee (if known)
  • Organisation they work for (if applicable)
  • Reason for nomination (150–400 words)

We encourage as much detail as possible to assist the judges. If insufficient information is provided, we may:

  • Contact the nominee directly for an overview of their work.
  • Contact the nominee's employer or manager for additional information.
  • Conduct background research to compile sufficient information for the judging panel.

Anyone within Your First Events Ltd., as well as the judging panel, reserves the right to disqualify any nomination at any stage for valid reasons.

Judges may also introduce last-minute nominations on the day of judging if they wish.

Judging

  • Judges will be the previous year's winners. If fewer than four winners are available, representatives from sponsors may be invited.
  • The judging panel will always consist of at least five individuals.
  • Judging is conducted in two rounds:

Round One:

  • Judges will have one week to review and score all nominations submitted.
  • Shortlists will be created based on the scores.
  • Shortlisted nominees will be contacted and asked to provide a 3-minute video explaining their work.

Round Two:

  • Judges will meet in a private session to watch nominee videos and discuss.
  • Only judges and a Your First Events Ltd. representative (as a non-voting advisor) will be present.
  • Judges will make final decisions independently.

All decisions are final, and winners will be revealed at the Awards evening.
